just my thoughts,
went to Shoot LA to see Michael Grecco and all the
new lighting from broncolor well it was some what over crowded could
not get a seat was ok standing ,
could not hear him sound was
muffled but was ok as totally under stood the lighting setups he was
creating and very much picked-up some tips and ideas ,his web site
watched
Tim Hogan his web site heard every-word, very interesting table top setup and the way
he described his way of working and using broncolor lights,
much
information from this ,
Tim Hogan also had another table top set
there, where you could get closer, I took advantage of this and asked
him many questions,
which he answered and showed me with the broncolor lights he was using how to create what I was interested in ,
I asked if he could change direction in his set up and change the lighting which he did and explained it all as he went ,
he
gave me more information than the guys from broncolor ,
speaking of
which they had a great studio setup many lights and 2 beautiful models
and a pro photographer shooting it ,
I watch for a
while thinking the photographer would say what she was doing and why
with the lighting plus the haselblad camera but alas no,
So asked the setup person on set if the photographer was going to get
another photographer to use this setup and camera she said no,
so I asked what was the point of this setup we where all watching if you
are not explaining what she is doing and why ,
she told me I was very
rude in asking and saying there was no point,
well I am a professional photographer with a studio
in Costa Mesa so would like to know what and why the photographer is
doing this with these lights which is why we are here and why you are showing us so we can be impressed and buy them ,
she told me this was not probably
for me if I needed to know,
, mmm so thousands of dollars worth of studio lighting and a 40
thousand dollar plus Hassellad camera link to Hasselblad where not for professional photographers which I am , now that is a
some what misguided remark from her to me,
Anyway Smashbox studio is an awesome studio with very helpful staff Smashbox web site
so
I did ask a person that looked like he was broncolor person he said
what can I tell you, I replied that I was interested in knowing more
about there lighting he said what are you using I said Norman studio
lighting, he replied so you want to use professional lighting now ,
mmm I just said thanks and moved on , that was a put down not
appreciated ,there web site
so overall I had a great time ,meetup
with many friends and made some new ones , I think MOPLA is doing a
great job with these advents and work shops and hopefully I will go to
more ,
thats all for now , my web site
